Folk dancing
The folk dancing is an essential part of the music week. Already on the welcome evening everybody is involved in easy folk dances. Within these dances partner are changed, fellow dancers are greeted so that contact is made with almost all people of the week, without the need of being able to speak German, a Scandinavian or any other language.
The character of the dances is such, that they are easy to learn, but a lot of fun to dance, so that the participants, who have learned them during the previous years, are not bored by dancing them. As the week progresses, dances become more complicated and every year brings along new dances for everybody to learn.
It is possible to purchase the CD with most of the dance music on the Scheersberg.
At the end of each folk dancing evening, a big circle is built and the Norwegian Hallingvisa is sung:
